Ann Liu. is an attorney experienced in advising foreign companies on Chinese legal matters as well as providing legal counsel to Chinese companies conducting business abroad. Well-equipped to represent both international and local corporations in Chinese courts, she has provided legal services to and litigated on behalf of some of the largest and best-known companies in China, including China Development Bank and Founder Group. Ms. Liu’s practice also involves advising some of the largest banks in China on a broad range of matters, from bank regulatory to complex financing transactions.
Well-versed in international litigation, Ms. Liu has successfully represented foreign plaintiffs against Chinese defendants. Among her accomplishments in this arena, she effectively aided Hyosung Power Holding Ltd., a Korean company, in winning back their U.S.$ 9 million deposit in an M & A deal. In another example, Ms. Liu skillfully helped another international client, U.S.-invested Beijing DAFU Insurance Agent, to avoid litigation when she convinced the plaintiff to drop its lawsuit.
In addition to her practice in international litigation, Ms. Liu possesses excellent connections with large State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), whom she has represented in their projects abroad. Additionally, she has assisted international law firms in their foreign endeavors.
Ms. Liu received her Bachelor of Law degree from Southwest Political Science and Law University in Chongqing, China, and also holds a Masters degree in International Finance from the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing, both top-ranked universities in these fields. She passed the PRC National Uniform Judicial Exam in 2002 and passed the New York State Bar in 2008.
